Scope of Improvement 2011

On 10 November 2011, representatives from Blake Dawson presented to the Australian Construction Industry Forum on the findings for the “Scope of Improvement 2011: Project risk – getting the right balance and outcomes”.
In summary the key findings included:

  • less than half of the projects surveyed were delivered on time, on budget and to the required quality;
  • the principal’s requirement were the key factor in risk allocation;
  • in more than one third of projects, risk procedures were unavailable, not followed or ineffective; and
  • 40 per cent of respondents identified design as an area where risk is not managed adequately.

A key focus of the BIM-MEPAUS initiative is to lower project costs, increase productivity and significantly improve design outcomes. Key benefits in the future will be realised throughout industry once consistent project documentation standards and integrated project delivery strategies are implemented.
