New York City – Department Of Design And Construction To Headline 2015 Forum

The Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors’ Association (AMCA) is pleased to announce Mr Safiy Abdur-Rahman, LEED AP, Director, Applied Technology as the latest high profile international keynote presenter at the BIM-MEPAUSConstruction Innovation 2015 Forum.

Safiy is currently employed as a Director of Applied Technology and BIM at New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC). Safiy has practiced in the Architecture, Construction and Engineering (ACE) industry as a Technical Architect, BIM Manager and technology enthusiast. Safiy has over 14 years experience in successfully adopting and implementing BIM at various architectural, engineering and construction management firms. With his experience Safiy has managed BIM development and workflows on projects of many scopes and sizes with varying levels of complexities, implementing standards, protocols, and best practices, while facilitating aspects of Integrated Project Delivery on multiple teams.

Currently, Safiy leads the DDC and the City of New York’s efforts in adopting and implementing BIM and related technology and also contributes to DDC’s Lean construction strategies. Safiy is a BIM lecturer at Pratt University and a member of the Lean NYC community of practice and also serves as the research committee chair.

Safiy will be joined at the forum by thought leaders and practitioners from across the supply chain, each providing unique insight into how leading firms such as the DDC are utilising technological advancements to deliver innovative best practice solutions in the building and construction industry.

It will be held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on 6-7 August 2015.
