Design to Fabrication Workflows

On 8 February 2012, the BIM-MEPAUS Project Board presented to AMCA-NSW members involved in the manufacture of ductwork. The purpose of the technical presentation was to help communicate:

  • the key importance of integrating the workflows more efficiently so the BIM-MEPAUS linked Revit and MEP libraries achieve the high translation rates using FAB-MEP;
  • the importance of the shop drawing being created using the manufacturing libraries, not sub-contractors’ design libraries; and
  • integration of costing and drafting databases.

The presentation reported on a “pilot” undertaken in Victoria during November 2011 when Ductmakers and alliance partners worked towards aligning and integrating workflows more efficiently.
