Posted 15 October 2026

AMCA has agreed to sell the BIM-MEP AUS initiative to Virtual Buildings Information Systems Pty Ltd (ABN 90 632 422 612) (VBIS), with effect from 15 October 2026.

From that date VBIS will own and operate BIM-MEP AUS, including this website, the content library, the standards and classification work, and the subscription service.

What this means for subscribers

Subscription agreements transfer to VBIS on 15 October 2026 under the “Transfer of this Agreement” section of the BIM-MEP AUS Terms and Conditions, which took effect on 21 September 2026. Current subscribers have been sent written notice of the transfer. For the remainder of your current subscription term your fees, your access, and the content and services you are entitled to receive are unchanged, and your login continues to work as it does today. Content you downloaded during your subscription remains yours to use.

What this means for the website

BIM-MEP AUS remains at bimmepaus.com.au. Accounts, logins and content libraries carry across to VBIS unchanged.

About VBIS

Virtual Buildings Information System (VBIS) provides a recognised digital asset information standard that helps owners, operators, contractors, manufacturers, designers and consultants manage and connect asset data across the built environment throughout the asset lifecycle. Learn more at the VBIS website.

Why AMCA is doing this

BIM-MEP AUS was created by AMCA to give the building services (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) industry a common set of digital objects and standards. It has grown well beyond what an industry association can properly resource, and it now needs an owner whose core business is building data. Transferring BIM-MEP AUS to VBIS gives it a long-term home and a clear development path, enabling it to reach its full potential.

Your personal information

Personal information held in connection with BIM-MEP AUS transfers to VBIS so that it can continue to provide the subscription, content and services. In September we wrote to contacts in our database about this and offered the opportunity to opt out. VBIS is required to handle that information in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). The BIM-MEP AUS Privacy Policy can be found here.
