AIR CONDITIONING AND MECHANICAL CONTRACTORS’ ASSOCIATION (AMCA)

MEDIA RELEASE

30 May 2018

The Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors’ Association (AMCA) is pleased to announce that Amanda Comunale from Cleveland/Akron, Ohia will deliver a keynote at this year’s Construction Innovation Forum. Amanda is the Director of Construction Piping Services at Victaulic. Founded in 1919, Victaulic is known as the leading innovator in piping solutions and services. The company continues to transform the industry with the most advanced engineering technologies and services that allow customers to tackle their most unique construction challenges.

Previously a Vice President at a leading mechanical, fire protection, and HVAC services company, Amanda brings a unique insight into the contractor-supplier relationship and leads the teams responsible for software content development, training, prefabrication analysis and drawing services. This includes the development of new offerings that allows their customers to achieve efficiencies in their modelling offices, greater accuracy throughout their estimating and procurement activities, and improved timeliness of fabrication. Amanda also holds a range of industry and community leadership positions.  She is a member of the National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA) and the American Supply Association’s Women in Industry Division. She also serves as Vice Chair of the Stephen A. Comunale, Jr. Family Cancer Foundation, and is a board member of the Women’s Endowment Fund of Akron Community Foundation. She holds a BA from Union College, an MBA from Case Western Reserve University, and a certificate in Lean Six Sigma from Villanova University. She is also a graduate of Leadership Akron.

Amanda sees BIM driving the need for Project Management tools that encompass traditional design, project management, and procurement functionalities. There are many tools on the market to help meet the needs of today’s projects. The timeframe to implement is slow because contractors have to learn new technologies while also meeting current project requirements.  Amanda’s presentation will walk through Victaulic’s journey of adopting and utilizing Project Management tools, encompassing active fabrication content, BIM estimation, modelling, and project execution.

Amanda will provide deep dive on how Victaulic is using C4R, Revizto, Virtual Reality and an internally-grown tool to track projects from quote through fabrication, all while giving the project team the ability to perform timely budget reviews, project review meetings, and identify areas of focus that might impact the project timeline. Amanda’s presentation will also discuss how the team vets’ new technologies and deploys them amongst a local and global workforce.

Amanda will be joined at the forum by thought leaders and practitioners from across the supply chain, each providing unique insight into how leading firms such as Laing O’Rourke, Jacobs, Aecom, and Autodesk are utilising technological advancements to deliver innovative best practice solutions in the building and construction industry.

This year’s forum is at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre – 23 – 24 August.
