Mr Warwick Stannus
Mr Stannus is A.G. Coombs Group Engineering Manager and has responsibilities for technical capability development across the group’s whole of life built environment design, construction, service and technical management services. In recent years this has included the development of the firm’s leading edge building information modelling, digital construction and analytics capabilities to better support its whole of life service offerings.
In addition to the Group Engineering Role, Mr Stannus also provides specialist advisory services to building owners and managers that includes ICA and commissioning management, building services asset and service management, safety-in-design and statutory compliance.
Mr Stannus is the Technical Director for the BIM-MEPAUS initiative and has played a key role in the development of the industry based technical BIM MEP standards and workflows that have helped owners, designers, constructors and suppliers to implement and leverage BIM and digital strategies for competitive advantage.
Mr Sumit Oberoi
Mr Sumit Oberoi is employed as National Director and Victorian Executive Director with the AMCA. Prior to this appointment, Sumit was employed as Executive Director (Victoria) and before that, AMCA Policy Analyst, where he was responsible for the association’s policy program. Sumit holds directorships with Plumbing Joint Training Fund (PJTF), Plumbing Industry Climate Action Centre (PICAC), Air Conditioning, Refrigeration and Building Services Exhibition (ARBS), Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC). Sumit also represents the AMCA at the Australian Construction Industry Forum (ACIF) and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).
Sumit has been instrumental in the development of the BIM-MEPAUS Initiative from its inception in 2010. Prior to joining the AMCA in 2009, Sumit worked in numerous roles with the Victorian State Government, most notably within the Economic and Financial Policy at the Department of Treasury and Finance. Sumit is a passionate industry policy advocate who continually seeks to help AMCA members deliver quality projects through construction innovation.
Mr Ian Pearse
Ian Pearse has over 24 years’ experience working with building technologies and telecommunications deployment. With a strong foundation in the HVAC and Electrical industries, in both construction and maintenance, he has spent many years refining workflows and strategies to increase efficiency when working with data in facilities.
Over the years, Ian has been involved with many key Queensland projects, and early European critical monitoring systems for companies such as Credit Suisse, Morgan Stanley, Reuters, and The BBC, plus involved in the early development of monitoring systems for data centres and disaster recovery sites.
Currently employed as the Digital Services Manager for Ellis Air, with a primary focus on bringing together the static and dynamic data environments of BIM and IoT, and taking a holistic view on the full lifecycle of digital services from early design to facilities management.
Mr Andrew O’Connor
Mr O’Connor is a Chartered Professional Mechanical Engineer and the Managing Director of A.G. O’Connor Pty Ltd (O’Connors). Mr O’Connor has over 30 years experience in the construction industry, and brings a disciplined and process driven approach to business, setting high standards for workmanship, quality control and safety management.
Mr O’Connor has extensive project management experience, having successfully led major projects throughout Australia and within Central America. A specialist in his field, he brings a successful track record in innovation, cooperation and value added services and remains committed to delivering the best possible out comes to his staff, his clients and all other project stakeholders.
Mr O’Connor is focused on delivering successful risk management outcomes through sound commercial practice and disciplined methodology. Open and direct, Andrew is renowned for his consistent approach, dedication to engineering excellence and ability to deliver.
Mr O’Connor holds a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering (B.E.Mech.), Master of Business Administration (MBA), and is the current South Australian and Past National AMCA President, and Chairperson for the Specialist Contractors Association SA.
Mr Russell Telford
Russell has thirty-six (36) years Industry experience associated with Building Services, thirty (30) of which has been with the A.G. Coombs Group, including various roles in Site and Project Management followed by six (6) years as the General Manager of the Projects business and the past seventeen (17) years as the Managing Director of the A.G. Coombs Group of Companies.
Focusing on the areas of Advisory, Projects, Service and Technical Management the A.G. Coombs Group is a leader in the provision of “whole of life” building services – from design, install and commission through to ongoing advice, service, maintenance and operation for all the systems that bring buildings to life, including air conditioning, ventilation, fire protection, electrical power, lighting and building technologies.
Russell is the current AMCA National President as well as the Chairman of the Victorian and National AMCA Training, Learning & Development Committees and the BIM-MEPAUS Project Board, as well as a member of the RCCC Round Table and other Industry Committees.
Mr Shannon Thomas
Shannon Thomas is the executive manager for Australia’s National BIM-MEPAUS Initiative run through the AMCA (Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors’ Association).
Shannon has a Bachelor of Engineering (Industrial Engineering & Engineering Management) with Honours from Monash University and completed postgraduate studies in Design Science (Building Services) from the University of Sydney. He also sits on the Australasian BIM Advisory Board Technical Group (ABAB TG).
With wide ranging professional experience in a number of roles within the automotive industry, Shannon has a particular interest in using his knowledge in HVAC Design, Project Engineering, Continuous Improvement, Six Sigma and Lean Principals to help guide the implementation and successful adoption of the national BIM-MEPAUS Initiative within the Construction industry’s exciting and evolving BIM space.
Mr Christopher Rankin
Christopher is the Executive Director of the Air Conditioning and Mechanical Contractors’ Association of South Australia Incorporated (AMCA SA) and has held that position for twelve years. Christopher has a career background in property and business sales and valuation and prior to that, management roles in the timber supply and pre-fabrication plus the pastoral and agriculture sector.
Christopher holds a Bachelor of Business in Property and holds a variety of industry positions, including the Property Council of Australia, Office of Consumer and Business, Specialist Contractors SA, PEER VEET, Safe Work (SA), Member of the Real Estate Institute (SA), Member of the Australian Property Institute (SA).
Its key objectives are to drive the transition of the mainstream construction sector towards adopting whole-of-life standards, protocols, models and workflows that define building services activities within building information modelling, integrated project delivery and supply chain integration processes specifically tailored for Australian requirements.
