BIM-MEPAUS Generic Design and manufacturers content has been designed to support integrated project workflows and the needs of designers, manufacturers and installers, as well as owners.

Plant, Equipment and Fitting content comprises of LOD 300 Generic Design Models and LOD 400/500 Manufacturer’s Certified Models.

Generic Design Models provide for designer’s requirements for design scheduling up to and including LOD 300. These models have the BIM-MEPAUS defined shared parameters added for design, tagging and specification purposes.

Each family incorporates geometry based on representative manufacturer data and provides a range of sizes that are intended to meet LOD 300 modelling purposes.

Manufacturer’s Certified Models (MCMs) allow suppliers to deliver project specific LOD 400 content inclusive of the technical schedules needed for finalisation of the commissioned as built LOD 500 model.

The workflows and content are more fully explained in the BIM-MEPAUS Model and Shared Parameter Guidelines documents available as a free download here.

The benefits of the BIM-MEPAUS approach to content development include:

  • A single reference model that captures best practice with respect to content design and functionality;
  • Interoperability between generic and manufacturer’s content through the use of content; and
  • Reliable scheduling through the integration of the Master Reference Shared Parameter Schedule.
