BIM-MEPAUS follows industry workflows that support design and construction processes as well as integration of the construction sector supply chain.
At its core is the Design to Commissioned As-Built Workflow. This workflow supports integrated project delivery teams and delivers to the owner a completed Revit MEP model that can be leveraged for facility and life cycle asset management. Providing a single point of truth for services geometry and data, the model is progressively refined through the project delivery providing benefits for designers, constructors and ultimately the building owners.
This workflow is enabled through:
- Adoption of a national BIM-MEPAUS Revit MEP Template Add-In that is based on relevant industry standards and incorporates best practice Revit MEP families; and
- Developing and providing constructible generic Revit modelling content that incorporates Australian, industry and manufacturing standards;
- Manufacturer Certified Model 3D content for all plant, equipment and fitting families for the virtual build process.
Through this integrated workflow the current waste in project design, documentation and construction can be addressed as never before by allowing specialist contractors to refine designers models, rather than re-create them.
Further, the workflow reduces project risks for all parties through reliability of geometry and data exchange as well as delivering improved project quality, cost and time outcomes.
In BIM-MEPAUS the management and reliable exchange of data is paramount to leveraging the investment in BIM based workflows. Efficient data exchange is further enabled by the BIM-MEPAUS Master Shared Parameter Scheme and the Component Specification Program for plant, equipment and fittings, that define the shared parameter attributes and component schedules respectively.
Whilst vendor independent, the BIM-MEPAUS workflows are based on the Autodesk family of building services modelling software tools including Autodesk Revit MEP, Autodesk Navisworks, Autodesk Fabrication and BIM 360.
